Back from CA

Hello, all. I hope you guys have had a good Thanksgiving. Ours was an extended vacation (for me. Dh worked from home. :( But he did take Thanksgiving and half a day off, so he did get a holday, thank goodness. Because of the Entreprenuereal nature of the company he works for, it seems that there is hardly ever a day we can call our own. But that's OK, he loves it).

We ate lots of pumpkin pie (and all got sick... sigh.) But it was still good. And possibly worth it.

What was your favorite thanksgiving food this year? My vote is definitely the blueberry cheesecake-- it was delicious. And I happened to be the one who made it, from a recipe that the ward gave out. I was pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of it.

1 block of cream cheese

2 cups of whipped cream (sweetened, of course)

2 tsp lemon juice (you can add more to taste)

-- mix these together.

the crust-- half a cube of melted butter and nilla wafers-- add butter or wafers as needed for how much crust you're making.

A can of blueberry pie filling (or cherry, or whatever you like on your cheesecake).

Chill for at least an hour.

Hope you all had a good time, too.

  1. I love cheesecake. It sounds delicious.

I wanted to comment about your natural healing post. I was completely on the side of having everything natural until I had Reilly. His health problems have been severe enough that natural didn't do much and even western medicine wasn't able to help for a long time. Prayer is ultimately what has turned him around. But, in the process, my beliefs have been evolving. I think there is room for both. I use both regularly and gratefully. I think it is good to learn wisdom and know which route you should go. Reilly depends upon western medication for help that the other just cannot give, but by also utlizing natural means we have a hope for helping his body heal in ways that western doesn't address.

We did not vaccinate him and I feel that was divinely inspired. He is allergic to so many things, I am convinced that it would have been bad.

I think both sides of this issue are gifts and tools from God to be used wisely and anything that is overused and abused is not a good thing.

    Anyway...just my two cents.

  2. Thanks Maren-- you have succintly said what I wanted to say with my post. And the example just makes it a stronger message-- I love to hear other peoples' experiences, too. I learn a whole heckuva lot from other peoples' parenting as I'm still such a newbie. ;)

  6. I forgot to tell you about "Olive Leaf". It is anti-viral and is wonderful for a cold or a cough. Go to to health food store and pick some up.
