Why do you vote for someone?

I'd love it if you join me in a discussion of this very interesting topic.

Why I vote for someone..

Or why I vote? I vote because it's my civic duty.

actually i voted for whom i voted for because of you and that damned war in iraq, but the reason i vote...i don't know,,,because my vote has usually been wasted, even this year my vote didn't mean anything in this reddest of all states...but i do not like to be told anything and i so resented living by peolpe trying to tell me what to do, my mom left her purse on a pue in the church and someone moved her purse and sat down, and my mom never went to church again...that is the kind of independance i was brought up with

vote for someone. I wrote a list of possibilities over on consciousignorance, that you can add to if you want. :)

Voting itself... yes. Civic duty all the way.

Putz, I think that would come under the category of e) sheer cussedness. You should go post on the other blog. Us sheer cusseders are thinly represented here in Utah.

"Cusseders"?

Now you're just making up words.... :-)

I posted over there. As an Alaskan, that was awfully fun to discuss Ted Stevens.

For me, the character of the person is the most important factor. I've got a thing for honesty, fairness, an ability to listen and weigh all options, and intelligence. A candidate's respect for his or her spouse weighs in heavily for me, too.

As far as ideology, I trust that anyone who is intelligent and fair is going to do the best thing for everyone concerned, and I leave that up to them.

Name-calling, exaggerations, and general mean-spiritedness will result in my lost vote every time. In short, I vote for the candidate that I think is most Christlike, and they show up in a variety of political parties.
