a good way to give a Mom a heart attack...

So, since we moved our bedroom downstairs, it's nice in the afternoons to pop in a movie and take a nap in the next room. It's getting close... I can tell because all I want to do lately is sleep. I love having the bedroom downstairs; I can hear everything through our slotted door, so I can intervene in case of an emergency, and I also can take a quick nap without worrying about the kiddoes. Until this afternoon. This is what I woke up to.

I panicked, until I realized...

red paint, people. Red. Paint.

She got it all over the carpet, too. Arghh. Oh well... that's what I get for taking a nap, I guess. :)

I had the same thing happen with Jordan, except it was nail polish! Sometimes you just have to live with some kind of horrible-and-won't-ever-come-out-in-this-lifetime stain on the carpet... whether it's paint, nail polish, playdough, or wax! (I confess, we had all of those in our last house... good thing we replaced the carpet before we left!)

Although none of my children ever seemed that interested in my make up, my daughter's children love to experiment with it, and she has a pretty good attitude about it. I recall once when we had saved $$$ to buy this beautiful Oriental rug for our foyer, and after we'd had it about three months, one of my daughters and her friends were leaving the house one day, and someone (I never found out who) dropped some nail polish on the rug. I was so upset!! I finally got a grip, however, after my husband reminded me that it was an accident and that I needed to "chill." And you know? He was right. The spot is still there, and it's much tinier than it seemed at the time. Now it evokes a memory of an earlier time...when I still had children and their friends at home.

yeah... it wasn't so much the stain on the carpet, as the initial shock of thinking she was blood-encrusted (lol) that made me panic for a moment.

Scary. So glad it was just paint.
