Happy Dad's Day

This is the second year that my little 4 year old has a daddy to give her church sponsored father's day project to. How wonderful that is.

This year it was a candy necklace. She had a really hard time handing it over. :) My favorite little lolipopoholic did it anyway. When you think about it, that's an amazing sacrifice from a four-year-old. Don't you think?

My dad is one of the most intelligent people I know, but he's not very phone-verbal. I wish I could spend Father's day with him in person, but calling is what we're limited to at this point, as we reside in separate states. So I'll call him and make him a little embarrassed, and then when I see him in a couple of weeks for our family reuninion, I'll consent to go rock climbing with him... that's MY ultimate sacrifice, in monument to the hefty sacrifices he has made for us. Too many to list. Too many to repay. Hours of commutes, hours of overtime with only a couple of weeks of vacation, hours of careful teaching and long philosphical conversations at 2 am the night before he has to get up to teach seminary in the early morning...

And everything else. I love my dad. I'm so grateful for him.

Happy Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to you, and yours', and thanks for stopping by own blog.

I believe that organized soccer starts with five-year-olds in our community, but anything that gets pre-schoolers out running and having fun can't be bad IMO.

I agree... my dad and I have not always had the easiest relationship either. But I think an element of that is a part of any long-term, close relationship, in a way. Sigh.

I think that's true love-- the putting it aside factor. I think my parents must do it a lot for me, too ;) Thanks for your post.

Woah! Your dad is talking to you at 2:00am and then getting up to teach seminary? now that is a sacrifice....

My dad was great at talking to us. He loved talking on the phone. After mom died, I suppose we were all he had. He was a very supportive dad and I miss him terribly. He died 6 years ago and it just isn't the same with him gone.

I am the only one in my family that is a member of the church. Dad would come to some of our ward activities and he got to know some of the members very well. Even though he was Baptist, he wanted our old bishop to do his service when he died. It was an interesting funeral with all our Baptist relatives. We even sang, I am a Child of God.

Be grateful that you still have you Dad here to love and support you. You are very lucky. Glad your root canal turned out OK.

I'm the same way on the phone. I can't do it very well. I wish my dad lived closer to me. It's one thing in life I wish I could wave a magic wand and - poof! He'd be here.

That was a lovely Fathers day post. It sounds like your Pop is tops! I agree that a 4 year old is sacrificing big time to handle the candy. Wonderful!
